Seton Hill began PSAC West play with a home doubleheader against Edinboro on Friday afternoon. Edinboro took game one by a 4-2 score. SHU responded with a 2-1 win in eight innings in game two. SHU is now 15-9 overall and 1-1 in PSAC West play.
The Fighting Scots took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins with three hits in the top of the first inning. Edinboro added to their lead with a run in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.
The Griffins got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth.
Devyn Terry drew a leadoff walk. Pinch runner
Megan Miller scored when
Chelsea Rohan cleared the left field fence for a two run shot that cut the lead to 4-2.
Both Rohan and
Jenna Osikowicz each had two hits for the Griffins.
SHU took a 1-0 lead over Edinboro in the first inning of game two.
Brooke Bower led off the game with a perfectly placed bunt. She scored when Osikowicz doubled over the left fielders head.
Edinboro tied the game at one with an unearned run in the third inning. The game remained tied until the eighth inning.
Pinch hitter
Raelyn McGarry led off the eighth with a walk. She moved to second when
Nichole McClendon reached on a bunt single. Bower drew a 3-2 walk to load the bases. Osikowicz sent the fans home happy when she reached on an error that allowed McGarry to scamper home with the game winning run.
Skyla Greco went the distance to earn the complete game victory. She allowed a run on seven hits while striking out two. Osikowicz led the offense with two hits.
SHU returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Gannon for another PSAC West contest.
