Softball Splits With Fairmont State

Seton Hill returned to the field after over a week break with a non conference doubleheader with Fairmont State on Wednesday afternoon.  Fairmont took game one by a 6-2 score.   SHU bounced back with a 9-1, five inning win in game two.  SHU is now 14-8 on the season. 
 
The Fighting Falcons scored twice in the top of the first inning of game one to take a 2-0 lead.  They added four more runs in the third to push their lead to 6-0. 
 
SHU got a run back in the fourth inning.  After one out, Devyn Terry doubled.  She moved to third on a Chelsea Rohan infield single.  Christiana Skrabak followed with a single to cut the lead to 6-1.  The Griffins added another run in the sixth.  Jenna Osikowicz doubled to lead off the inning.  She scored on a Skrabak single. 
 
Skrabak led the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBI.
 
Fairmont took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the first inning of game two.  The Griffins retook the lead in the second.  Chelsea Rohan led off the inning with a single and scored when Skrabak cleared the center field wall to give SHU a 2-1 lead.  After two outs, Morgan Toal tripled and scored on a Nichole McClendon single. 
 
Back to back doubles from Rohan and Skrabak increased the lead to 5-1 in the third.  Alexis Vargas then singled in Skrabak to increase the lead to 6-1 in the third. 
 
Terry knocked in Osikowicz with an infield single in the fourth to push the lead to 7-1.  SHU put the game away with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Skrabak was hit by a pitch to start the inning.  After two outs, Toal and McClendon reached on infield singles to load the bases.  Brooke Bower singled to knock in two and end the game. 
 
Terry earned the win in the circle with a complete game.  She gave up four runs on one hit while striking out three.  Bower, Rohan, Skrabak, Toal and McClendon each had two hits.  Skrabak drove in three runs. 
 
SHU returns to action on Friday afternoon when they open PSAC West play against Edinboro.
