The Seton Hill Community Mourns the Loss of John Fogle

The Seton Hill University community mourns the loss of former Women's Soccer Coach and Athletic Director John Fogle, who died on Tuesday, March 19. Coach Fogle was an integral part of the Seton Hill community for more than 40 years. "Coach Fogle had true passion for Seton Hill and cared deeply for the athletes that he coached," said Chris Snyder, Executive Director for Athletic Programs. "His sense of humor and carefree approach to life and athletics is something that I will always remember."

He was hired as the Activities Director at Seton Hill in 1972 and led the development of many of the sports programs on campus as well as the college's move to the NAIA in the late 1970s. He founded the women's soccer program in 1987 and served as the team's head coach until his retirement in 2015. Under Coach Fogle's leadership, the soccer team won four consecutive NAIA District Championships and finished sixth in the nation in 1991, earning him NAIA Regional Coach of the Year honors.

While much of his career was spent coaching soccer, he also led the softball and volleyball programs and served as an instructor in the Education Department as well. He was inducted into the first class of the Seton Hill Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.

Seton Hill extends our deepest sympathy to John's family and friends, including his wife, JoAnne; their children, J.J., Jason and Jamie; and their grandchildren, as well as all of the alumni who were guided and mentored by Coach Fogle. We pray for John and ask that all of God's faithful departed may rest in peace.
