Seton Hill opened their 2019 Florida trip with a matchup with #3 Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon. The Mocs jumped out to a 15-4 lead at the half and cruised to a 21-9 victory over the Griffins. SHU is now 1-1 on the season while Florida Southern is 2-1.
After the Mocs scored the first two goals of the game, the Griffins answered with three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead with 22:19 to play in the first half.
Jaclyn Frank opened the scoring while
Emma Haley tied the score at two.
Mackenzie Kilduff gave the Griffins the 3-2 lead. Florida Southern then scored the next seven goals to build a 9-3 lead. Haley ended the run and made it 9-4 with 13:46 to play in the first half. The Mocs scored the final six goals of the half to take a 15-4 lead into the break.
Brooke Lawrence opened the scoring in the second half for the Griffins. After a Mocs goal, Kilduff and
Taylor Fox-Trudel trimmed the lead to 16-7 with just over 17 minutes to play in the half.
Hannah Powell and
Keagan Pontious scored the final two goals for the Griffins.
Kilduff and Haley led the Griffins with 2 goals. Frank and Fox-Trudel each added a goal and an assist.
SHU returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to St Leo for a 7 PM game.
