Greco's No Hitter Leads Griffins to Sweep

Seton Hill continued non conference play on Tuesday afternoon as they hosted Wheeling Jesuit.  SHU scored four runs in two different innings in route to an 8-3 win in game one.  SHU then used a no hitter from Skyla Greco to complete the sweep with a 3-1 win in game two.  SHU improves to 13-7 on the season.

The first four innings were a pitchers dual between the Griffins Devyn Terry and the Cardinals Kelsey Barron with both starters putting up zeroes.

Wheeling took a 2-0 lead in the fifth with a two run homer to right field.  SHU responded with four in their half of the inning.  Alexis Vargas doubled to lead off the inning.  After two outs, Brooke Bower doubled to cut the lead to 2-1.  Jenna Osikowicz singled and both runners scored on a Terry double.  SHU added another run as Terry scored on a error.

In the sixth inning, Vargas and Morgan Toal singled after an out.  After a pop out, Brooke Bower singled to center field to knock in Vargas and increase the lead to 5-2.  Osikowicz followed with a two RBI double and Terry drove in the eighth run of the game with a single.

Osikowicz led the offense with a 4-4 performance with two doubles and 2 RBI.  Terry, Bower and Vargas each added two hits.  Terry drove in three.

Terry earned the win in the circle.  She gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits while striking out 5.

Wheeling took advantage of a Griffin error in the first inning of game two, scoring a run in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.  SHU tied the game at one in the second inning.  Christiana Skrabak led off the inning with a single.  She moved to second on a sac bunt from Vargas.  A Trinity Cumo single put runners on the corners with one out and Nichole McClendon's ground out scored Skrabak to tie the game at one.

Both teams put zeroes on the scoreboard until the bottom of the sixth.

After two outs, Chelsea Rohan doubled.  Megan Miller pinch ran for Rohan.  Abbie Thrower drew a walk.  Both runners scored when Skrabak lined a double into the left center field gap.

Greco closed out her no hitter with a foul out, strikeout and ground out in the seventh.

Greco earned her sixth win of the season.  She gave up the one unearned run while striking out 6.  Skrabak led the offense with two hits in game two.

SHU will return to action next Wednesday when they host Fairmont State in a doubleheader.
