GREENSBURG, PA - Seniors Keagan Pontious and Mackenzie Kilduff combined for nine goals as the Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team overwhelmed Chestnut Hill College in the 2019 season opener on Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field in Greensburg.
// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill has won their opening game for the past nine years.
// FIRST HALF
• Chestnut Hill bolted out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Spencer Fitzgerald (27:38) and Mary Kroppe (23:52). But, Seton Hill responded with three-straight goals to take the lead. Jaclyn Frank scored off of a Brooke Lawrence Assist at the 23:12 mark, and Lawrence followed with a goal of her own at 21:44. Another goal from Frank gave SHU their first lead, 3-2, with 20:58 to go in the half. Chestnut Hill's Julia Reinert tied the game at 3-3, but Seton Hill came back with five-straight goals of their own to take a commanding 8-3 lead. After Frank scored her third of the game, Mackenzie Kilduff picked up back-to-back goals followed by a Keegan Pontious, woman-down, goal, and finally Kate Kada's goal finished the run to make it 8-3 with 11:29 remaining in the half.
After a Spencer Fitzgerald's goal at 9:59 caused a momentary stoppage in momentum, but SHU would outscore CHC by a 6-1 margin the remainder of the half. Olivia Caragein (2), Pontious (2), Kilduff (1), and Katelyn Cressman (1) all got in the act to bring a 14-5 lead into halftime.
In the half, Seton Hill outshot Chestnut Hill, 29-8 (24-7 on goal). CHC committed 10 turnovers compared to just two from SHU. Seton Hill dominated the Draw Controls, 17-3.
// SECOND HALF
• A quick goal by Mackenzie Kilduff made it 15-5 and brought on the running clock. Keegan Pontious then scored two more followed by a Cressman goal to push the lead out to 18-5. Chestnut Hill would score two, but Alyssa Ference's goal just with under a minute to play seal the game for the Seton Hill Griffins.

• Seton Hill will now turn their attention to the annual Spring Break trip to Florida March 2-6 where they'll play Florida Southern, Saint Leo, and the University of Tampa.
