After taking a week off for finals, the Griffins returned to the court with a non conference road contest at Salem University on Saturday afternoon.
Six Griffins reached double figures in a 91-77 road win for the Griffins. SHU improves to 7-1 on the season.
Seton Hill and Salem exchanged leads over the first five minutes of the first quarter of play. Back to back three pointers from
Samantha Kosmacki and
Rena Enterline gave SHU a 15-12 lead with four minutes to play in the quarter. Another three from Kosmacki and one from
Tiana Stewart extended the lead to 21-17 with two minutes to play. Enterline drained another three as SHU took a 26-21 lead into the second quarter.
Courtney Cecere hit one three and Stewart added two more threes as SHU took a 35-26 lead with just over seven minutes to play in the half. Over the next four minutes, the Griffins outscored the Tigers 16-0 to take a 51-26 lead with 3:23 to play. SHU took a 56-36 lead into the halftime break.
Lexi Civittolo opened the scoring in the third quarter with a layin. Five points from
Sydney Rabold extended the lead to 65-46 with 6:52 to play in the third. Cecere scored five straight points as SHU continued to lead by 16 points, 70-54, with just over four minutes remaining. Baskets from Kosmacki and Stewart gave SHU a 77-64 lead after three quarters of play.
Salem held the Griffins off the scoreboard over the first five minutes of the fourth quarter and were able to cut the lead to 77-72. Baskets from
Katie Nolan, Cecere and Rabold built the lead back to eleven points at 83-72. Nolan put the game away with a three pointer with a minute to go.
Cecere led six Griffins in double figures with 15 points. Rabold finished with 14 points. Nolan, Kosmacki and Stewart each added 13 points. Civittolo finished with 10 points.
Seton Hill returns to PSAC Crossover action next weekend when they take on Millersville on Friday and Shepherd on Saturday.
