Seton Hill continued it's play on the road as they traveled to Alderson Broaddus for a non-conference matchup on Saturday evening.
The Griffins used a 14-1 run during the first half and never trailed after it in route to an 83-76 victory over the Battlers. SHU is now 1-1 on the season.
The teams exchanged baskets over the first four minutes with the Battlers holding an 11-10 lead four minutes into the contest. SHU then went on a 14-1 run to take a 24-12 lead with just under twelve minutes to play in the first half. Five different Griffins scored during the run. A three pointer from
Kealen Coats extended the lead to fourteen points just over halfway through the first half.
Jimmy Moon drained a three pointer to put SHU in front 37-22 with 7:24 left in the half. Seton Hill carried a 53-43 lead into the halftime break.
Nathan Davis with led the Griffins with 18 points. Moon added 11 points and Coats finished with 8.
Early in the second half, AB cut the Griffins lead to five points. A layup from Tommy Sekunda and a Davis three pointer pushed the lead back to 62-50 with 12 minutes left in the half. AB again trimmed the lead to five but Davis answered with a three pointer to make it 69-61 with 7:40 to go.
AB followed with a 10-1 run to trim the Griffin lead to 71-70 with 5:51 to play. Leading 74-72, Coats extended the lead to 76-72 with just over four minutes to play. The Griffins then hit seven of eight free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
Davis led the Griffins with a game high 31 points. Moon posted a double double of 15 points and 15 rebounds. Coats added 10 points. Sekunda finished with 9 points and Drew Green reached 8.
The Griffins will play their home opener next weekend when they host Mansfield and Bloomsburg on Saturday and Sunday.
