The Griffins continued PSAC Crossover action on Friday evening with a road matchup at Shippensburg.
SHU won the second and third sets to take a 2-1 lead but the Raiders won the final two sets for a five set victory over the Griffins. SHU falls to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in PSAC play while the Raiders improve to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in PSAC play.
Seton Hill and Shippensburg were tied at nine in the first set but the Raiders went on an 8-2 run to take control of the set. Ship took a 1-0 lead on the Griffins with a 25-16 first set win.
The Griffins came out flying in the second set and led 13-5. SHU continued to control the set and tied the match at one with a 25-18 second set win. A couple four point runs from each team opened the third set. With Ship leading 11-9, the Griffins got two kills from
Viktoria Farian and one from
Bobbi Rempe to take a 13-11 lead. Two kills from
Cameron Baril put the Griffins in front 20-15. After Ship cut the lead to 21-20,
Katie Koziarz got a kill and then combined with Farian on a block to take a 23-20 lead.
Jillian Livorse gave SHU a 2-1 lead in the match with a kill for a 25-21 set win.
Back to back kills from Farian gave SHU a 10-6 lead in the fourth set. Ship responded to take a 13-11 lead. A kill and an ace from Farian tied the set at 13. Ship built a 24-18 lead but the Griffins battled back and saved five set points before falling 25-23 to tie the match at two. The Raiders took an early 6-2 lead in the fifth set. SHu fought back and got to within two at 9-7 but the Raiders closed out the set on a 6-2 run to win the match.
Farian paced the Griffins with a match high 16 kills. She also added a match high 36 digs and 6 aces. Rempe added 8 kills and 5 blocks.
Taylor Sabol paced the offense with 31 assists.
Veronica Johns added 24 digs.
SHU will continue PSAC crossover action on Saturday when they head to Shepherd.
