Seton Hill made the trip to Erie to meet Mercyhurst under the lights on Wednesday evening for a PSAC West opener for both teams.
Mercyhurst scored a goal in each half for a 2-0 win over the Griffins. SHU drops to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the west while the Lakers improve to 3-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the west.
The Griffins had a good scoring chance with 12 minutes to play in the first half but the Laker keeper made back to back saves on
Lloyd Davies and
Joffe Bradley. Mercyhurst scored the opening goal of the contest with just under seven minutes to play in the first half. The Lakers took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Mercyhurst outshot the Griffins 6-4 in the half and had a 5-2 advantage in corners.
With less than seven minutes to play in regulation, the Lakers made it 2-0.
The Lakers ended the game with a 12-6 advantage in shots and a 7-2 advantage in corners.
Archie Lock and Bradley each had two shots for the Griffins.
Austin Iddon made two saves in net.
SHU will continue PSAC West play next Wednesday when they host Pitt Johnstown.
