Volleyball Rolls to 3-0 Win Over Kutztown

Seton Hill began their weekend road trip in Eastern PA with a matchup with Kutztown on Friday evening.

The Griffins rolled to a sweep with a 3-0 victory over the Golden Bears.  SHU improves to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in PSAC play.

With the first set tied at three, the Griffins got back to back kills from Jillian Livorse and Katie Koziarz to take a 5-3 lead.  Those two kills started a 12-2 run with the last two points coming from Erin Parks kills as the Griffins led 15-5 in the set.  Another kill and a block from Parks extended the lead to 19-8.  Another Koziarz kill pushed the lead to 23-15.  Two Kutztown errors gave SHU the 1-0 lead with a 25-16 first set win.

The second set started off closer than the first set with neither team holding more than a two point lead until the Griffins took a 12-9 lead on a Bobbi Rempe block.  A kill from Taylor Sabol combined with a Viktoria Farian/Koziarz block and Parks kill pushed the Griffins lead to 20-14.  Another Sabol and Koziarz kill extended the lead to 22-14.  Another Parks kill and a Parks/Koziarz block gave SHU a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 second set win.

The third set started off like the second set with neither team able to build a big advantage.  A block from Parks and Rempe tied the set at 11.  Rempe followed with a solo block and a kill to give SHU a 13-11 advantage.  Back to back kills from Farian and Livorse extended the lead to 19-14.  Two more kills from Livorse gave the Griffins the match with a 25-17 third set win.

Livorse led the Griffins with 12 kills.  Farian finished with 9 kills.  Parks added 8 kills while Koziarz and Sabol finished with 6.  Sabol also added 34 assists.  Rempe paced the Griffins with 5 blocks.  Livorse and Farian each reached double figures with 10 digs.

SHU will continue play on Saturday when they meet East Stroudsburg.
