Seton Hill began their weekend road trip in Eastern PA with a matchup with Kutztown on Friday evening.
The Griffins rolled to a sweep with a 3-0 victory over the Golden Bears. SHU improves to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in PSAC play.
With the first set tied at three, the Griffins got back to back kills from
Jillian Livorse and
Katie Koziarz to take a 5-3 lead. Those two kills started a 12-2 run with the last two points coming from
Erin Parks kills as the Griffins led 15-5 in the set. Another kill and a block from Parks extended the lead to 19-8. Another Koziarz kill pushed the lead to 23-15. Two Kutztown errors gave SHU the 1-0 lead with a 25-16 first set win.
The second set started off closer than the first set with neither team holding more than a two point lead until the Griffins took a 12-9 lead on a
Bobbi Rempe block. A kill from
Taylor Sabol combined with a
Viktoria Farian/Koziarz block and Parks kill pushed the Griffins lead to 20-14. Another Sabol and Koziarz kill extended the lead to 22-14. Another Parks kill and a Parks/Koziarz block gave SHU a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 second set win.
The third set started off like the second set with neither team able to build a big advantage. A block from Parks and Rempe tied the set at 11. Rempe followed with a solo block and a kill to give SHU a 13-11 advantage. Back to back kills from Farian and Livorse extended the lead to 19-14. Two more kills from Livorse gave the Griffins the match with a 25-17 third set win.
Livorse led the Griffins with 12 kills. Farian finished with 9 kills. Parks added 8 kills while Koziarz and Sabol finished with 6. Sabol also added 34 assists. Rempe paced the Griffins with 5 blocks. Livorse and Farian each reached double figures with 10 digs.
SHU will continue play on Saturday when they meet East Stroudsburg.
