Seton Hill made the long trip across I-80 to Bloomsburg for a PSAC Crossover matchup with the Huskies on Wednesday evening. The Griffins forced 18 Bloomsburg turnovers and turned those into 17 points in a 78-74 victory over the Huskies. The Griffins improve to 5-12 overall and 3-8 in PSAC play while the Huskies fall to 5-11 overall and 2-9 in PSAC action.
Bloomsburg scored the first basket of the game before the Griffins used a quick 7-0 run to take an early 7-2 lead.
Nathan Davis hit a three pointer to open the run. Bloomsburg answered with an 8-0 run of their own to take a 10-7 lead five minutes into the contest. The Huskies built their lead to 16-9 with 12:40 to play in the half.
A three pointer from Davis cut the Huskies lead to 23-21 with 8:54 to go in the half. Back to back baskets from
Milenko Predic tied the score at 25. Another Davis three and a basket from
Malik McKinney gave SHU a 30-25 lead with 4:37 to play. McKinney and
Kealen Coats hit three pointers in the final minute of the half as SHU took a 38-33 lead into the halftime break.
The Huskies cut the SHU lead to one before Davis hit a three pointer to push the lead to four early in the second half. SHU was able to extend their lead to double figures (51-41) for the first time in the game after two free throws from McKinney with 14:29 to play. Over the next five minutes the Griffins were able to keep the lead at five points or more.
Bloomsburg trimmed the lead three points (59-56) with less than ten minutes to play in the half. A three pointer from Davis and a jumper from Predic pushed the lead back to seven points at 68-61 with 5:59 left.
Down the stretch, the Griffins had an answer for each time the Huskies cut the lead to two points. Predic hit two free throws and Davis hit a layin and four free throws down the stretch.
The Griffins forced 18 turnovers while committing just 6. SHU outscored the Huskies in points off turnovers 17-4.
Davis led the Griffins with a game high 29 points. Predic finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds. McKinney was the third in double figures with 17 points.
SHU will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to UPJ for a PSAC West contest.
