Seton Hill traveled to East Stroudsburg on Saturday evening for a PSAC crossover matchup. The Griffins led 27-13 entering the fourth quarter but 28 consecutive points from the Warriors helped ESU to a 41-34 come from behind win. SHU falls to 0-2 on the season.
East Stroudsburg took the opening kick and drove 73 yards in eight plays to take a quick 6-0 lead after the PAT failed. The Griffins answered back with a 12 play, 75 yard drive to take a 7-6 lead midway through the second quarter. The final four yards of the drive were from a run from
Logan Wiland. Both teams punted on their next two drives and the Griffins led the Warriors 7-6 after one quarter of play.
The Griffin defense forced a turnover on the Warriors second play of the second quarter.
Cole Shuker forced a fumble and
Malik Scott recovered the fumble at the SHU 33 yard line. SHU took advantage of the turnover when
Ryan Barabe hooked up with
Kinan Humphrey on a 77 yard bomb to push the SHU lead to 14-6 with 13:03 left in the first half. After punts from both teams, the Warriors drove 88 yards in seven plays to cut the Griffins lead to 14-13 midway through the second quarter. SHU took that 14-13 lead into the halftime break.
SHU took the opening kickoff and drove 65 yards in just five plays to extend their lead to 20-13. Wiland punched it in from one yard out to give SHU the lead with just over 13 minutes to play in the quarter. ESU was forced to punt on their next drive and the Griffins extended their lead to 27-13 on the following possession. They marched 86 yards on seven plays to push the lead to 14.
Cinque Sweeting scored from 24 yards out to give SHU the 14 point advantage with 4:34 left in the third quarter.
Seton Hill was forced to punt on their first possession of the fourth quarter. The Warriors then scored on three straight possessions to take a 34-27 lead with just over five minutes remaining in the quarter. The Griffins then threw an interception on their next drive and the Warriors then made it four for four in TD drives in the fourth quarter as they took a 41-27 lead with just over three minutes left in the game. SHU trimmed the lead to 41-34 with 1:45 left in the game on a Barabe to Sweeting TD pass. The Warriors recovered the onside kick and were able to run out the clock.
Barabe finished 18-41 for 326 yards and 2 TDs. Sweeting ran for 118 yards and a TD and also caught a TD pass. Wiland finished with 84 yards and 2 TDs.
Ardell Brown had 6 catches for 139 yards. Humphrey added 4 catches for 121 yards and a TD.
Jaylen McDuffie finished with 10 total tackles, Shuker added nine.
SHU will host West Chester next Saturday in another PSAC crossover matchup.
