Seton Hill traveled down Interstate 79 to Fairmont, WV for a non conference matchup with the Falcons on Tuesday evening. The Griffins swept the Falcons for their third straight victory. SHU improves to 8-3 on the season while the Falcons drop to 4-9 overall.
The teams exchanged points in the early part of the first set before the Griffins used a 4-0 run to take a 10-6 lead. The Griffins used another 4-0 run on a kill and ace from
Jillian Livorse and two
Leah Bisignani kills to increase their lead to 15-8. Two FSU attack errors gave the Griffins a 21-14 lead. The Falcons then went on a 7-1 run to trim the SHU lead to 22-21. A kill from
Erin Parks made it 23-21. Two kills from
Viktoria Farian gave SHU the set with a 25-23 victory.
The Griffins jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the second set. Fairmont State would not get any closer in the set as SHU took a 2-0 lead after a 25-12 second set win.
SHU scored the first four points of the third set. Fairmont fought back to tie the set at seven. SHU then used another 4-0 run on a kill from Bisignani and two blocks from Bisignani and Farian to take an 11-7 lead. SHU was able to build their lead in the set to 16-11. The Falcons answered with a 7-0 run to take an 18-16 lead. Back to back kills from Livorse trimmed the FSU lead to 20-19. Kills from Bisignani, Farian and Parks gave SHU a 22-21 lead. Back to back kills from Bisignani gave SHU a match point at 24-22. A Falcon hitting error gave the Griffins the set at 25-23.
Jillian Livorse led the Griffins with 9 kills.
Jessica Hanson and
Leah Bisignani each finished with 7 kills.
Viktoria Farian added 6 kills and
Erin Parks tossed in 5. Farian led the team with 19 digs and
Hannah Moeller added 17.
Taylor Sabol paced the Griffins with 21 assists while
Brynn Fleury added 14.
SHU will return to PSAC play this weekend when they travel to Shippensburg and Pitt Johnstown.
