The Griffins returned to the courts on Friday afternoon at Malone's Hall of Fame City Challenge Tournament. Seton Hill opened the day with a matchup with Daemen and then took on Notre Dame (OH) in the nightcap. The Griffins opened the day with a sweep of Daemen. They followed that with a 3-1 win over Notre Dame (OH) in their second match of the day. SHU has won four in a row and is 4-2 on the season.
SHU jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set of the Daemen match and then used a 4-0 run later in the set to regain control of the set and took a 1-0 lead with a 25-20 first set win. Daemen took a 7-3 lead early in the second set. SHU used a 7-0 run in the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 27-25 second set win.
Cameron Baril and
Leah Bisignani had the final two kills of the set. The Griffins took an early 5-0 lead in the third set of the match. Baril and
Umari Stroud each had kills to give the Griffin the match with a 25-18 third set win.
Viktoria Farian led the Griffins with 14 kills. Bisignani added 7 kills and
Jessica Hanson added 6. Three Griffins reached double figures in digs with
Jillian Livorse with 13, Farian with 12 and
Hannah Moeller with 11.
SHU played a nearly perfect first set to take a 1-0 lead over Notre Dame (OH). The Griffins had 16 kills and just one error in the set. SHU then used a 5-0 run early in the second set to take a 2-0 lead on the Falcons with a 25-18 second set win. The Falcons cut the Griffins lead to 2-1 with a 25-15 third set win. The Falcons led early in the fourth set but the Griffins used a 6-1 run to take control of the fourth set and lead 22-15. A kill from
Rachel Satira gave SHU a 25-19 fourth set win and the match.
Farian again led the Griffins with a match high 19 kills. Satira and Bisignani each added 8 kills. Livorse added 18 digs.
SHU will close out the Hall of Fame City Challenge on Saturday when they take on Malone at 9 AM and Southern Indiana at 1:30 PM.
