Griffins Advance in PSAC Softball Tournament

In a game that featured twenty six total hits, thirteen for both teams, Seton Hill won the battle that counts in a 10-7 win over Shippensburg in the first round of the PSAC Tournament.  SHU is now 22-13 on the season.

Shippensburg scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.  The Griffins got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning.  Brooke Bower led off the inning with a single.  Laken Ryen reached on an error and both runners moved up on a wild pitch.  Christiana Skrabak followed with a single to drive in both runs.  Skrabak later scored on an error and Ashley Perillo knocked in Paige Hertzog who singled to give SHU a 4-1 lead. 

The Raiders got one run back in the top of the fourth inning.  SHU added two runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Jenna Osikowicz led off the inning with a single.  She moved to second on a bunt from Bower.  Ryen walked and both moved up on a wild pitch.  After a strikeout, Devyn Terry singled to drive in two runs and give SHU a 6-2 lead 

Bower singled in pinch runner Rebecca Meyer in the fifth to push the Griffins lead to 7-2.  Ship scored four times in the sixth inning to cut the Griffins lead to 7-6. 

It did not take long for the Griffins to respond as they scored three times in the bottom of the inning.  With two outs, Skyla Greco drew a walk.  Hertzog singled to put runners on first and second.  Perillo followed with a three run shot to left field that gave SHU a 10-6 lead.

Hertzog led the Griffins at the plate by going 4-4.  Bower, Perillo and Rohan each added two hits.

Devyn Terry earned the win in the circle.  Greco threw the final 1.1 innings to earn the save. 

SHU will move on to the second round where they will take on Lock Haven on Thursday at 3 PM.
