For the first time in school history. the Seton Hill men's lacrosse program is heading to the NCAA Division II Semifinals. The Griffins defeated perennial North Region power LeMoyne by the score of 14-10 to advance to the semifinals. The win is the sixteenth in a row for the Griffins as they continue to add to their school record number of wins. SHU is now 17-1 on the season.
Head coach
Brian Novotny stated, "I am very proud of our team and the way they prepared all week. Obviously they performed at a high level today. We showed great composure and poise throughout the ups and downs of the game." He added, "Our team loves to be together, and now, for at least another week we get to do that. Getting to the NCAA final four is a tremendous accomplishment for our program, department and our university. Success does not happen in a vacuum, there is a lot for Seton Hill to be proud of today."
LeMoyne took an early 1-0 lead just 1:31 into the contest. The Griffins responded less than a minute later on a goal from
Zack Rusch to tie the game at one. The Dolphins took their final lead of the game at the 9:13 mark of the first quarter. SHU answered back with the final four goals of the quarter to take a 5-2 lead into the second quarter.

Ryan Manbeck and
John Hofseth all scored for the Griffins.
The Dolphins scored the first goal of the second half as well to cut the Griffins lead to 5-3.
Shane Pettke scored back to back goals forty two seconds apart to push the Griffins lead to 7-3. A potential turning point in the game happened in just over a two minute stretch as the Dolphins scored four goals, all man up, after two Griffin penalties to tie the game at seven. The Griffins would not be fazed as
Joe Cillo scored what could be the biggest goal of the season as he picked up a LeMoyne turnover and raced down the field, scoring his first career goal to give the Griffins the lead back at 8-7 with 4:44 to play in the first half. Just over a minute later, Moran scored his second of the game to push the lead to 9-7. Hofseth's second of the game gave SHU a 10-7 halftime lead.
The Griffins played unbelievable defense in the third quarter, holding the Dolphins off the scoreboard. SHU was able to add two more goals in the quarter to push their lead to 12-7.
Sean Stanners scored a man up goal and Miller's second gave SHU a five goal advantage heading to the fourth quarter.
LeMoyne scored twice in less than two minutes to cut the Griffins advantage to 12-9 with just over eight minutes to play.
Jay Scerbo ended any chance of a Dolphin comeback with a goal right off a faceoff win to put SHU back in front by four at 13-9. Moran's third of the game closed out the scoring for the Griffins. LeMoyne added a late goal to make the final 14-10.
Moran again led the offense with three goals and an assist. Hofseth added two goals and two assists. Miller and Pettke each added two goals. Rusch, Stanners and Manbeck each finished with a goal and an assist.
Max Eismann recorded 9 saves in cage.
SHU will now head to North Andover, Mass next weekend to meet top seed Merrimack in the NCAA Semifinal. Merrimack defeated NYIT 24-6 on Saturday afternoon. The game will be played next Sunday with a game time to be announced.
