Seton Hill returned to PSAC West play on Thursday afternoon when they hosted Edinboro on a cool and windy day. The Griffins took game one by the score of 3-1. SHU completed the sweep with a 5-0 win in game two. SHU is now 11-6 overall and 3-1 in PSAC West play.
The Griffins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning of game one.
Paige Hertzog and
Devyn Terry singed to lead off the inning. Both moved up on a bunt by
Chelsea Rohan. Hertzog scored when
Laken Ryen reached on an error and Terry scored on a passed ball to give SHU a 2-0 lead.
The Scots got a run back in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Griffins lead in half.
SHU got that run back in the sixth. With one out,
Allie Harvey singled. Pinch runner
Allison Kapoll moved to second on a wild pitch and scored when
Brooke Bower singled to right field.
Hertzog led the Griffins with three hits. Terry threw a complete game two hitter while striking out four for the win.
SHU jumped on the Scots early in game two as well scoring twice in the bottom of the first. Bower led off with an infield single and stole second. She scored on a double steal.
Jenna Osikowicz reached on a fielders choice and scored on an error to give SHU a 2-0 lead.
SHU added three runs in the fourth inning. Terry doubled with one out. Pinch runner Kapoll then scored when
Samantha Estupinian singled. Bower then made it 5-0 with a two run shot to left center field.
Bower led the Griffins with two hits.
Skyla Greco went the distance giving up just five hits and striking out three.
SHU is scheduled to host Gannon on Friday.
