Seton Hill traveled to Gannon on Sunday afternoon for an important PSAC West doubleheader with a chance at first place on the line. Gannon did not allow the Griffins the shot at first place as they swept a doubleheader from the Griffins. The Knights took game one by the score of 7-2 and then game two by an 8-4 score. SHU falls to 17-13 overall and 9-7 in PSAC West action.
Gannon took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins in the first inning of game one.
Ashley Perillo cut the lead in half with a solo homer in the top of the second inning. The Knights got that run back and added another run in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead. A three run homer pushed the Knights lead to 7-1 in the fourth inning.
Christiana Skrabak hit a solo homer in the seventh for the final Griffin run.
SHU took a 1-0 lead in game two in the first inning.
Brooke Bower singled and moved up on a wild pitch. She moved to third when
Laken Ryen bunted and scored on a sacrifice fly from Skrabak. Gannon tied the score in the bottom of the inning and then put up a six spot in the second to take a 7-1 lead. The Knights added another run in the third inning. SHU got one back in the fourth after a leadoff double from
Devyn Terry.
The added two more in the sixth after a leadoff homer from Terry.
Bower led the Griffins with 3 hits. Terry and
Paige Hertzog added two.
SHU gets back to action on Tuesday when they are scheduled to host West Liberty in a non conference matchup.
