The Griffin softball team used a little home cooking as the road team on Saturday as they swept Mercyhurst in a PSAC West Doubleheader. The games, originally scheduled for Erie, were moved because of bad field conditions with SHU being the road team in the doubleheader. SHU took game one by a 9-1 score and completed the sweep with a 7-2 win in game two. SHU improves to 17-11 overall and 9-5 in PSAC West play.
Neither team scored until the bottom of the fourth inning of game one when the Lakers took a 1-0 lead. The Griffins scored three times in the top of the fifth inning.
Jenna Osikowicz,
Laken Ryen,
Christiana Skrabak and
Ashley Perillo all singled in the inning.
The Griffins added five more in the sixth.
Brooke Bower singled in a run, Ryen tripled in two and

Samantha Estupinian hit a solo homer in the seventh.
Skyla Greco gave up just 3 hits and 1 run while striking out three. Osikowicz went 4-4, Ryen added 3 hits and Bower went 2-2.
SHU scored seven times in the top of the third inning of game two. Ryen doubled in Bower for the first run and Skrabak followed with a three run shot to make it 4-0. Perillo,
Chelsea Rohan and Osikowicz each added RBIs in the inning. The Lakers scored twice in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 7-2.
