Griffins Sweep UPJ in PSAC West Doubleheader

Seton Hill closed out their four game set with Pitt Johnstown with a doubleheader at home on Saturday afternoon.   SHU opened the doubleheader with a 9-2 win in game one.  The Griffins completed the sweep with a 9-4 win in game two.  SHU is now 18-17 overall and 12-8 in PSAC West play. 
 
The Griffins broke thru with an unearned run in the third inning.  Tyler Sullivan led off and reached on a two base error.  He scored on an RBI groundout from Jordan Fiedor
 
SHU took advantage of a two out walk in the fifth inning.  Tom McCarthy drew the walk and Carl Turner homered to give SHU a 3-0 lead.  Colton Carney followed with a double and scored on an Adam Bankovich single to extend the lead to 4-0. 
 
The Griffins sent eleven batters to the plate and scored five times in the sixth to extend their lead to 9-0. 
 
Don McWreath goes the distance, giving up just 2 runs and 5 hits.
 
SHU jumped on the Mountain Cats in game two.  Sullivan led off with a single and scored on a triple from Chris Law.  Turner then knocked in Law with a sac fly to push the lead to 2-0.  A wild pitch allowed the third run to score in the inning.
 
SHU scored five runs in the second inning.  The big hit was a three run homer from Mark Colella
 
UPJ scored single runs in the third and fourth to cut the lead to 8-2. 
 
Michael Bryja earned the win, going 5 innings and giving up just one run.  Sullivan led SHU with 3 hits in game two.  Law added two hits.
 
SHU will travel to West Liberty on Tuesday for another doubleheader.
