Softball Takes Two From Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Seton Hill University softball defeated Edinboro University 19-1 in a six-inning game one before winning a 6-3 decision in game two.

// NOTABLES
• SHU moves to 15-11, 7-5 PSAC while Edinboro falls to just 4-15 on the year
• Devyn Terry (6-6) gave up just one run on four hits while striking out five in the Game One win
• Leighann Pettis (3-1) surrendered two runs on three hits in the Game Two victory
• Skyla Greco pitched 3.0 innings in relief in game two, giving up one run while striking out five
• Terry, Ashley Perillo, and Chelsea Rohan all homered in game one
 
// GAME ONE KEY INNINGS
Top of the 6th
• After scoring one in the 2nd, four more in the 3rd, and another three in the 5th, the Griffins' offense exploded in the 6th for a total of 11 runs. The Fighting Scots did not get the nine runs needed in the bottom half of the inning to extend the game

// GAME TWO KEY INNINGS

• Edinboro jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the 1st inning
Top of the 4th
• After scoring runs in the 3rd and 4th inning to tie the game, the Griffins grabbed a lead with a run in the 4th. Brooke Bower got things started with a one-out walk. Jenna Osikowicz the singled to second base, advancing Bower to third. Osikowicz then stole second at the next at-bat, and the throw from the Edinboro catcher went awry, allowing Bower to score fChelsea Rohan> Top of the 5th
• Chelsea Rohan's single up the middle scored Paige Hertzog from second to give SHU a 4-2 lead. Estupinian then singled to left center and advanced Kapoll (pinch running for Rohan) to second. Laken Ryen then reached on a fielder's choice, advancing Kapoll, but Estupinian was out at second base. Ryen then went to steal second, but a arrant throw from third base allowed Kapoll to score and SHU commanded a 5-2 lead
Top of the 6th
• SHU would plate another in the 6th when Christiana Skrabak got herself caught in a run-down at first, allowing Osikowicz to score from second.

Seton Hill travels to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for a PSAC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 17th. Game one is set to start at 3:30 PM.
