Bankovich Tallies Five RBI'S In Win Over Alderson Broaddus

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Redshirt Freshman Adam Bankovich had five RBI's and two homers and Senior Tyler Sullivan was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate as the Seton Hill baseball team snapped a two-game skid with a 10-4 win over Alderson Broaddus University in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the SHU Baseball Complex.

The Griffins improve to 11-16 overall, while Alderson Broaddus falls to 6-21.

Leading 2-1, the Griffins scored four runs in the fourth inning to break the game open. Ryan Wardropped his a two-out single to shortstop to get things started for the Griffins. Carl Turner then singled up the middle, advancing Wardropper to second. A double-steal moved both Turner and Wardropper over to second and third bases, and Tyler Sullivan's triple over the Battler right fielder cleared the bases and made the score 4-1 in favor of SHU. Adam Bankovich then made his third hit of the season a towering shot over the left-center fence, scoring Sullivan, and giving SHU a 6-1 lead.

Seton Hill scored another in the fifth when Austin Braendel scored off of an Andrew Chuba double to right field to put SHU ahead, 7-1. Alderson Broaddus would battle back with three runs in the eight inning, but Bankovich would match that with a three-run blast of his own in the bottom half of the inning. Carl Turner would reach on a a fielder's choice, followed by a Sullivan walk with two-down. At the next at-bat, Bankovich would take a 3-0 pitch past the left-center fence and give SHU a 10-4 lead. The Griffins would cruise with a three-up and three-down ninth to seal the victory.

Brian Dabney picked up the win, throwing 3.0 innings in relief for starting pitcher Jared Kollar.  Stephen Ault-McGhen threw 4.0 innings in the loss for ABU. 

Seton Hill will take on PSAC rival California University of Pennsylvania in a four-game series this weekend. Games 1 and 2 are scheduled for 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Friday in Washington, PA with Games 2 and 3 at the same times on Saturday in Greensburg.
