The Griffins played their final doubleheader of the Florida trip on Friday afternoon in Kissimmee, Florida. Seton Hill was shutout in game one by the score of 4-0 to Wayne State. The Griffins could not hold onto a 6-1 lead in game two against Minnesota Crookston and dropped both games on the day, falling 7-6 to the Eagles. SHU is now 5-5 overall, going 2-5 so far on the Florida trip.
Wayne State used a Griffin error in each of the first two innings to score an unearned run in each inning and take a 2-0 lead over the Griffins. The Warriors added a run in the fourth inning after two, two out hits to take a 3-0 lead over the Griffins.
The Warriors added another unearned run in the top of the sixth inning to push their lead to 4-0.
Seton Hill had a golden opportunity to get on the scoreboard in the sixth inning.
Tyler Sullivan led off with a bunt single. He moved to third on a double down the left field line from
Chris Law. Two strikeouts and a ground out ended the inning, keeping the Griffins off the scoreboard.
Mark Colella and
Tom McCarthy had two hits in game one.
Minnesota Crookston took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. SHU responded with three runs in their half of the inning.
Ryan Grieco had a two RBI single in the inning.
The Griffins added three more runs in the third inning on four hits to push their lead to 6-1.
The Eagles picked up a run in the sixth inning to trim the lead to 6-2. Crookston added two more runs in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 6-4. McCarthy tripled off the fence in the seventh inning with one out but was stranded at third base.
Crookston scored three times in the eighth inning to take a 7-6 lead over the Griffins.
Colton Carney and McCarthy each had two hits.
SHU will close out their Florida trip on Saturday when they take on West Chester.
