Seton Hill closed out their spring trip with a matchup with defending national champion West Chester on Saturday morning in Kissimmee, Florida. West Chester scored seven times in the fifth inning in route to a 9-3 victory. SHU ends the Florida trip with a 5-6 overall record and a 2-6 record on the Florida trip.
The Griffins put runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the first inning but two pop outs ended the inning. SHU loaded the bases with three walks but a strikeout ended the inning as SHU stranded five base runners thru three innings.
Mark Colella led off the fourth inning with a double but a two strikeouts and a pop up could not advance Colella past third base.
West Chester finally broke thru in the fifth inning. The scored a touchdown and added the extra point on seven hits to take a 7-0 lead over the Griffins. SHU had two runners on with no one out and the bases loaded with one out in the fifth but two strikeouts ended the inning leaving three runners on.
SHU finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning.
Adam Bankovich was hit by a pitch with two outs and scored when
Chris Law doubled into the gap.
Chris Law had two hits for the Griffins.
The Griffins are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday whey they travel to Shepherd.
