Seton Hill took on former WVIAC foe Ohio Valley on Thursday afternoon in Kissimmee, FL looking to end a three game losing streak. The Griffins scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in a 23-0 win. Starter
Don McWreath had a no hitter thru 6 2/3 innings. SHU improves to 5-3 on the season.
The Griffins got off to a good start with two runs in the top of the first inning.
Chris Law drew a leadoff walk. He moved to second on a
Colton Carney single. Law scored from second base on a sacrifice bunt from
Tom McCarthy.
Tyler Peterson then drove in Carney with a sac fly.
SHU added seven runs in the second inning. Carney was hit by a pitch to drive in a run. McCarthy added two RBIs on a single. Peterson added a run with a single and
Ryan Grieco drove in three with a three run bomb to left field to give the Griffins a 9-0 lead after two at bats.
Garret Vrbanic added a solo homer to lead off the third inning to extend the lead to 10-0.
Mark Colella added an RBI double in the fourth inning to push the Griffin lead to 11-0.
Seton Hill added seven runs in the sixth inning. The big hit was a grand slam from Carney.
Carney led the Griffins with 3 hits and 5 RBI. Vrbanic and Grieco each finished with three hits as well. Peterson added 2 hits. McWreath went seven innings, giving up one hit while striking out 7.
SHU will play a doubleheader on Friday when they take on Wayne State and Minnesota State Crookston.
