Griffins Fall on the Road at #23 Tampa, 13-11

Seton Hill continued it Florida trip with a matchup with #23 Tampa on Wednesday evening.  SHU led 5-3 at the half but was outscored 10-6 in the second half for an 13-11 road loss.  SHU is now 1-2 on the season. 
 
Neither team scored in the first ten minutes of the contest.  Mackenzie Kilduff got the Griffins on the board first at the 19:48 mark.  After Tampa tied the game at one, SHU ran off three goals in a 2:27 span to take a 4-1 lead.  Courtney Pontious scored on a free position shot and Ashley Ingram and Keagan Pontious each also scored during the run. 
 
Savannah Monroe answered a Tampa goal 16 seconds later to increase the SHU lead to 5-2.  Tampa got a late goal to cut the Griffins lead to 5-3 at the half.  Kilduff and Courtney Pontious each added assists in the half.  Hailey Jacobs made 6 saves in cage. 
 
Tampa opened the second half scoring twice to tie the score at five.  Kilduff scored twice in thirty two seconds to put the Griffins back up by two at the 26:31 mark of the second half.  Tampa answered with three straight to take an 8-7 lead with just over 18 minutes to play in the half. 
 
Taylor Fox-Trudel tied the score with 15 minutes to play in the half.  The Spartans scored the next two goals to take a 10-8 lead with 11:53 to play in the game.  Cressman scored with 11:13 to play to trim the Spartans lead to 10-9.  Tampa responded with two straight goals to push their lead to 12-9 with just over nine minutes remaining. 
 
Trailing 13-9, SHU got goals from Keagan Pontious and Jaclyn Frank to trim the lead to 13-11 but could not score again.
 
Kilduff led the team with 3 goals and an assist.  Keagan Pontious added 2 goals.
 
SHU will take on Rollins on Friday afternoon to close out their trip.
