LOCK HAVEN, PA - The Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team fell to Lock Haven, 13-12, at Charlotte Smith Field on the campus of Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The loss moves the Griffins to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC.
Lock Haven charged out of the gate and built a 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game, but
Nellie Phillips scored a free position goal with 24:31 remaining to get Seton Hill on the board. Lock Haven would go on a 2-0 run to make it 4-1 with 16:47, but a 4-0 run gave the Griffins the lead.
Taylor Fox-Trudel scored a free position goal at 15:59 for the first of the four goals to make it 4-2.
Olivia Caragein found the back of the net un an unassisted goal with 13:42 remaining, before
Nellie Phillips scored her second goal of the game just thirteen seconds after on an assist from Kately Cressman.
Savannah Monroe then scored at 13:29 to tie the game up at 4-4. The Eagles would score the next two when Alex O'Herrick scored at 11:49 and Katie Costanza netted her fourth goal of the game at 11:06. The Griffins then scored three consecutive goals by
Courtney Pontious,
Mackenzie Kilduff (free position), and Fox-Trudel to put SHU ahead, 8-6, with 3:10 remaining. However, Lock Haven would score the next two to head into halftime all tied up, 8-8.
Courtney Pontious scored her second of the day at 24:29 in the second half off of a Cressman assist, giving SHU a 9-8 advantage. Costanza would strike yet again for Lock Haven at 22:58 followed by a Hayley Kilian goal at 16:42 as the Eagles regained the lead, 10-9. Seton Hill's Monroe and Caragein scored the next two at 15:49 and 11:29, but LHU responded with a three-goal run to take a 13-11 lead with 7:44 remaining. Phillips would score her third goal of the game with 4:05 remaining and pull the Griffins to within one, 13-12, but the Griffins fell just short of tying the game. Senior
Courtney Pontious tried a free position shot with 1:21 remaining, but a save by Lock Haven sealed their victory.Â

For the game, Seton Hill outshot Lock Haven, 23-22. LHU committed 23 turnovers compared to 15 for SHU. Seton Hill picked up 23 grounds balls, while Lock Haven held a decisive advantage in draw controls, 18-9.
Hailey Jacobs grabbed nine saves in the loss.
Seton Hill will look to end a three-game slide when they travel to Slippery Rock, PA on April 3rd to take on Slippery Rock University. That game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
