Seton Hill hosted Slippery Rock to open up PSAC West play on Sunday afternoon. The Rock rallied for a 7-4 win in game one. SHU rallied from 5-0 down in game two to walk off the Rock 6-5 in game two. SHU is now 6-10 overall and 1-1 in PSAC West play.
The Rock took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning without a hit. Seton Hill got on the board in the bottom of the first inning.
Craig Lewis led off with a walk and moved to third on a single from
Chris Law.
Ryan Grieco was hit by a pitch to force in a run and tie the score at one.
The Griffins took the lead in the second.
Garret Vrbanic doubled to lead off and scored on a two out RBI single from
Colton Carney to give SHU a 2-1 lead. The Rock tied the score at two with a leadoff homer in the top of the third inning.
SHU retook the lead in the fifth. With one out, Law hit the first pitch he saw over the center field fence to give SHU a 3-2 lead. Slippery Rock took a 5-3 lead with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Rock added two more runs in the seventh to take a 7-3 lead. SHU got one back in the seventh. Carney doubled and scored on a Grieco single.
Both Carney and Law had two hits.
The Rock took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning of game two. Slippery Rock added four more runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.
The Griffins scored twice in the fourth. They used doubles from Carney and McCarthy and RBIs from Law and Sullivan to trim the lead to 5-2.
Seton Hill tied the game at five with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. The big hit in the inning was a two out, two RBI single from Grieco to tie the score at five.
SHU then won the game in the seventh. McCarthy singled with one out and moved to second on a bunt from Law. After a balk call, Carney singled thru the left side to score McCarthy.
McCarthy, Carney, Grieco and Sullivan each had two hits.
Neal McDermott threw 3.1 scoreless innings to earn his first win.
SHU will head to Slippery Rock for a doubleheader on Monday.
