Seton Hill opened their 2018 season at home with a doubleheader against Wheeling Jesuit on Tuesday afternoon. Seton Hill took game one by a 1-0 score on a single from
Samantha Estupinian. Wheeling earned the split with a 5-1 win in game two. SHU is now 1-1 on the season.
The game was scoreless thru four innings with the Griffins having just two hits and starter
Devyn Terry limiting the Cardinals to just one hit. SHU was able to get four base runners on during the four innings.
The Griffins were able to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out,
Christiana Skrabak tripled to the left center field gap. She scored on a two out, 2-2 single to right center field from
Samantha Estupinian.
Wheeling got two runners on base in the top of the seventh inning but Terry got the Cardinals to hit into a double play to end the game.
Terry earned her first win in the circle, striking out eight. Skrabak added two hits.
In game two, Wheeling Jesuit scored once in the first inning and twice in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead over the Griffins.
SHU had two runners on with one out in the fourth inning but could not move them past second base.
Wheeling added a run in the fifth inning and one in the seventh.
The Griffins got on the board in the seventh. With one out,
Allie Harvey hit a double to the gap. She scored on a single from
Ashley Boehm.
Ashley Perillo had two hits for the Griffins.
SHU will return to action over Spring Break in Florida.
