Seton Hill led by three points at the half but were outscored 42-28 in the second half as Mercyhurst rallied for a 77-66 road win over the Griffins on Saturday afternoon. SHU falls to 8-16 overall and 5-14 in PSAC play while the Lakers improve to 12-10 overall and 9-9 in PSAC action.
The Griffins took an early 10-5 lead after a three pointer from
Trevor Blondin with 17:28 to play in the first half. SHU used a quick 7-0 run to push their lead to 28-17 after a
Tyler Bowling lay-in with 7:06 to play in the first half. The Lakers trimmed the lead to three points at 30-27 before another layup from Bowling and a four point play from
Nathan Davis gave SHU a 36-29 lead with 1:18 to go in the half. Mercyhurst scored six straight points to cut the lead to one with 34 seconds to go but two free throws from Davis extended the SHU lead to 38-35 at the half.
Mercyhurst scored 16 of the first 19 points of the second half to turn a three point halftime deficit into a 51-41 lead less than four minutes into the half. SHU would get as close as eight points with twelve minutes to play in the half but the Lakers extended their lead back to double digits and held the double digit lead until a
Spencer Casson free throw cut the lead to 75-66 with 1:14 to play.
Trevor Blondin paced the Griffins with 22 points.
Nathan Davis scored 18 points and
Spencer Casson finished with a double double of 14 points and 15 rebounds.
SHU returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Pitt Johnstown for a 7:30 PM start.
