Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

UPJ Too Much For SHU In 82-60 Setback

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Four Seton Hill University men's basketball players scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Griffins dropped an 82-60 decision to the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening.

The loss drops Seton Hill to 8-17 on the season, including 5-15 in league action, while the Mountain Cats improve to 13-10 on the year and 12-8 in the PSAC.

UPJ jumped out to an early lead as Isaac Vescovi hit the game's first basketball to give the home team a 3-0 lead before Blondin's jumper sparked an 11-6 run to take an 11-9 lead at the 15:25 mark.

The Mountain Cats took advantage of the Griffins' mistakes and missed opportunities sparked a 20-6 run to take a 14-point lead with 8:36 still to play in the half. The Griffins looked to bounce back before the break, outscoring UPJ by 5-2, but Johnstown kept the Seton Hill offense off of the scoreboard and carried a 19-points lead into the break, 46-27.

The second half saw a little more room for improvement for Seton Hill as the Griffins used a 16-6 run over the first five minutes of the game to cut the lead to nine, 52-43, with 14:49 remaining. However, UPJ  responded with stifling defense and hot shooting on their way to the 82-60 win.

Seton Hill struggled to find the bottom of the net, shooting just 41.7 percent from the floor (25-for-60) and hitting 3-of-18 (16.7%) from three-point land.

The Griffins are back in action this Saturday when they step out of PSAC play to take on Salem University (formerly Salem International University). The Griffins defeated Salem (D2, Independent), 75-72, on November 22nd of last year. Tip-off for Saturday's matchup is set for 3:00 PM and will be streamed live via the Seton Hill Stretch Internet Portal.
