Griffins Pick up Key Atlantic Regional Win

Seton Hill hosted Shepherd in the McKenna Center on Tuesday evening in a non conference matchup for both teams.  Next season the two teams will be members of the PSAC.  The Griffins won the big regional match by a 3-1 score.  SHU improves to 16-8 overall while the Rams fall to 19-7. 
 
The Rams jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set.  Back to back kills from Leah Bisignani trimmed the Ram lead to 9-6.  Sidney Chapman followed with an ace and SHU trailed by just two.  An ace from Brynn Fleury and a kill from Viktoria Farian put the Griffins in front 12-10.  A combo block from Rachel Satira and Jessica Hanson and an ace from Bisignani gave SHU a 15-12 lead.  Chapman got the Griffins to 20 with a kill.  Bisignani extended the lead to 21-17 with a kill.  Bisignani and Erin Parks combined on a block to end a 3-0 Shepherd run and give SHU a 22-20 lead.  Chapman followed with her second ace of the set to push the lead to three.  Back to back kills from Farian gave SHU a 1-0 lead with a 25-20 first set win.
 
Shepherd jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second set.  Three straight from the Griffins trimmed the lead to 10-6.  Two kills from Farian and a block from Bisignani and Satira got SHU to within one at 12-11.  The Rams were able to push their lead back to 18-15, forcing a Griffin timeout.  The Rams evened the match at one with a 25-18 second set win.
 
Seton Hill took an early 4-1 lead in the third set.  SHU was able to extend that lead to 9-5.  A kill from Satira followed by a Bisignani ace, a Farian kill and a Farian/Hanson block extended the SHU lead to 15-8 and forced the Rams to burn a timeout.  Cameron Baril's kill pushed the lead to ten at 18-8.  Baril gave SHU a 2-1 lead with an ace on set point as the Griffins took the set 25-13. 
 
Back to back kills from Farian cut the Rams lead to 8-6 early in the fourth set.  Farian's kill and a block from Erin Parks and Hanson gave SHU a 13-11 lead.  A kill from Bisignani and an ace from Baril pushed the Griffin lead to 20-13.  Bisignani ended the set and match with a kill off an overpass as the Griffins took the set 25-14. 
 
Farian led the Griffins with a match high 15 kills.  Bisignani added 9 while Baril added 8.  Parks and Hanson each added 7.  Taylor Sabol had 24 assists while Brynn Fleury added 20.  Hannah Moeller had a match high 20 digs.  Farian added 16 and Sabol finished with 10. 
 
SHU will return to action on Friday when they travel to Kutztown on Friday evening.
