The Griffin men's soccer team made its senior day a memorable one with a 4-2 victory over Pitt Johnstown on Sunday afternoon. SHU scored three times in the first half and added a second half goal in the win. The Griffins are now 6-3-5 overall and 3-1-4 in PSAC play.
Seton Hill struck twice within three minutes to take a 2-0 lead early in the first half.
Per Stenseth gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. The play started with a corner kick from
Tormod Staal Simonsen.
Jack Wardale got a head on the corner kick and Stenseth finished off the play. Just over three minutes later,
Archie Lock used a spectacular bicycle kick to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead. Lock finished a cross from Simonsen. With less than two minutes to play in the half,
Joffe Bradley found a wid open
Lloyd Davies who flicked a pass into a wide open net for a 3-0 Griffin halftime lead. The Griffins outshot the Mountain Cats 15-5 in the half.
The Mountain Cats cut the SHU lead to 3-1 with a goal just under nine minutes into the second half. Less than two minutes later, the Griffins pushed their lead back to three.
Henrik Berg blasted a shot past the UPJ keeper to give SHU a 4-1 lead. UPJ scored a goal in the 79th minute to cut the lead to 4-2.
Austin Iddon finished with 3 saves in the first half while
Jacin Smith added a save in the second half. Both Simonsen and Bradley each had two assists in the contest.
The Griffins return to the pitch on Friday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a PSAC contest.
