Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Blondin, Lecuona Fuel Late Rally In Win Over Gannon

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Seton Hill's Trevor Blondin and Trevor Lecuona combined for 16 points in the final 13 minutes of the game as the Griffins came back from a double-digit deficit in the second half to upend Gannon University, 74-70, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Wednesday night inside the Katherina Mabis McKenna Center.

The Griffins improve to 8-13 overall and 5-11 in the PSAC. Gannon slips to 14-7 overall and 10-5 in the conference.

After finishing the first half trailing by three (37-34) the Golden Knights looked as if they would run away with the game when they outscored the Griffins 16-9 over the first six minutes of the second half to take 53-45 lead with 13:24 on the clock. The Griffins would go on a 7-2 run over the next three minutes to cut the lead to three (55-52) but back-to-back buckets by the Golden Knights quickly pushed the Gannon lead to seven (59-52) before Lecuona's three ended the GU run and kept SHU in striking distance.

Fast-forward to the 7:17 mark when Gannon's Zay Jackson hit a three to give the Golden Knights a six point advantage (64-58), but a reverse jam by Spencer Casson and a jumped by Lecuona got the Griffins to within two (64-62) with 6:09 to play. Gannon would eventually make two free-throws to push the lead out to four (68-64), but a trey by Lecuona and another trey by Trevor Blondin out of the final media timeout gave Seton Hill their first lead since the opening minutes of the first half (70-68) with 3:14 to play. It would take over two minute before a Gannon layup tied the ballgame at 70 apiece, but Nathan Davis' layup on the other end regained the lead for SHU with 45 ticks on the clock.

From there it was all about the Seton Hill defense. Specner Casson blocked Damon Miraud's layup, followed by Brandon Alston blocking another Miraud layup. After the two teams traded timeouts, Zay Jackson's three missed it's mark and Casson pulled down the rebound with six seconds remaining. Casson would ice the game with two free-throws on the other end and the Griffins would go on to win by a score of 74-70.

Blondin led the Griffins with 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor, including a 4-of-7 performance from three and 5-for-8 from the free-throw line. Nathan Davis netted 18 points on 7-of-12 from the field in a season-high 37 minutes played. Trevor Lecuona finished with 11 points and Spencer Casson had a double-double 10 points and 11 rebounds.

For the game, the Griffins made 26-of-49 (53.1%) shots from the floor. The boys in red made 10-of-19 three's and 12-of-20 from the foul line. Seton Hill scored 26 points in the paint while the bench contributed 10 points. The Golden Knights made 29-of-67 (43.3%) shots from the floor, including 6-of-17 (35.3%) from long range.
