Seton Hill made the trip to Edinboro to continue PSAC West action on Wednesday evening. Edinboro jumped out to an eleven point halftime lead and never looked back in route to an 86-74 home victory. SHU drops to 4-6 overall and 1-6 in PSAC play while the Scots improve to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in PSAC play.
Edinboro opened the game on a 16-5 run over the first five minutes of the contest. They took their largest lead of the half at 14 points, 23-9 with 12:30 to play in the first half.
Trevor Blondin followed with back to back baskets to trim the lead back to ten. The Griffins got the deficit back to single digits when Blondin hit a jumper and a three with 8:07 to play in the half. A three pointer from
Trevor Lecuona and another basket from Blondin cut the lead to five at 32-27 with 4:45 to play. SHU trailed 39-34 with 1:18 to play but the Scots went on a 6-0 run to close out the half and take a 44-33 lead into the halftime break.
The Griffins opened the second half with a jumper from
Nathan Davis and Lecuona to trim the Scots lead to 45-38. Another three from Lecuona got the deficit to four points at 47-43 with 17 minutes left in the half. After the Scots built their lead back to ten points, the Griffins used a 7-0 run to get to within three points at 57-54 with 13:18 remaining in the half. The Scots answered with a 7-0 run of their own before SHU went on an 8-0 run to trail 64-62 with 8:47 to play. Two free throws from Davis kept the deficit at two, 66-64. The Scots responded with another 8-0 run to retake control of the game. The Griffins would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Trevor Blondin and
Trevor Lecuona each poured in 20 points for the Griffins. Lecuona also added 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
Nathan Davis also finished the game in double figures with 11 points.
SHU returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Clarion at 3 PM.
