The Griffins continued their road trip with a PSAC contest at Clarion on Saturday afternoon. The Seton Hill defense held Clarion off the scoreboard for over five minutes in the second half in route to a 77-68 victory over the Eagles. SHU improves to 7-13 overall and 4-11 in PSAC West play.
The Griffins were led by a triple double from
Spencer Casson. He finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks. Its his second career triple double.
SHU got off to a quick 8-2 start on two buckets each from
Spencer Casson and
Trevor Blondin. Clarion battled back to tie the score at 17 at the under twelve minute media timeout.
Seton Hill then went on a 9-0 run over a four minute stretch to build their lead to 26-17.
Tommy Sekunda hit a three pointer during the run. Clarion answered with six straight points before
Anthony Karabatsos driving layup put the Griffins in front 28-23 at the under four minute media timeout. SHU was able to push their lead to 34-26 on a jumper from
Milenko Predic. SHU took a 36-28 lead into the halftime break.
Clarion opened the second half on an 11-1 run to take a 39-37 lead at the first media timeout of the half. Five straight points from
Nathan Davis gave SHU a 46-41 lead with 13:40 to play in the half. Another three from Blondin gave SHU a 49-47 lead at the under 12 media timeout. The Griffins continued to hold a three point lead at the under eight minute timeout.
A fast break layup from Davis and a dunk from Casson on a feed from
Trevor Lecuona pushed the Griffins lead to 62-56 with 4:09 to play in the half. The Griffin defense was able to hold Clarion off the scoreboard for over five minutes and extended their lead to 68-56 with two minutes to play.
Casson's triple double of 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks led the Griffins. Blondin scored a game high 24 points. Davis finished with 17 and Lecuona added 12 points.
SHU will host Gannon on Wednesday evening.
