The Griffins hit the road after three straight home games for a PSAC contest at Indiana (PA) on Wednesday evening at the KCAC. IUP pulled away in the second half and defeated the Griffins by the score of 92-70. SHU drops to 6-13 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
IUP opened the game hitting three straight three pointers to take an early 9-2 lead over the Griffins. They extended their lead to 14-2 causing the Griffins to take a timeout with 15:43 to play in the first half. SHU then used a 5-0 run on a three pointer from
Trevor Blondin and basket from
Spencer Casson to cut the Hawks lead to 21-13 with 11:22 to play in the half.
Six straight points from Blondin cut the IUP lead to 26-23 with eight minutes left in the first half. Another three from Blondin and a put back from Casson cut the IUP lead back to 34-28 at the under four media timeout. IUP then closed the half on a 10-2 run to take a 44-30 lead into the halftime break.
SHU was able to go on an 8-0 run to cut the IUP lead to 52-38 before the Hawks answered with a 12-5 to build the lead back to 64-43 with 13:21 left in the second half. The Crimson Hawks extended their lead to 72-46 with 11:24 to play in the half.
Trevor Blondin led the Griffins with 23 points.
Trevor Lecuona and
Nathan Davis also both reached double figures. Lecuona finished with 12 points and Davis added 11.
