Women's Soccer Rebounds For 4-1 Win Over Shippensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Following a disappointing loss at Slippery Rock, the Seton Hill University women's soccer team rebounded to defeat Shippensburg University by a score of 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field in Greensburg.

Seton Hill improves to 7-3-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the PSAC. Shippensburg falls to 2-7-1 overall, 1-7-0 in the conference.

Katie Kimmich got the party started for Seton Hill, intercepting a errant pass by the Shippensburg goalkeeper to give Seton Hill the early 1-0 lead. Emily LoPresti got on the board with a signature long shot from outside of the box that curled over the Raider goalkeeper's head and put Seton Hill ahead 2-0. Just 26 seconds later, Syaani Harris converted a Abigail Skatell pass into a goal as the Griffins took a 3-0 lead into the break.

Shippensburg would get on the board when a handball was called inside of the Seton Hill box in the 62nd minute. Isabella Weigel froze Jessica Neill on the shot that flew harmlessly into the right side of the goal. However, Emma Porteous sealed the victory for the homestanding Griffins with a header off of a Emma Bearinger corner kick for the 4-1 victory.

On the day, Seton Hill pelted the Shippensburg net for 28 total shots. The Griffins easily outshot the Raiders, 28-11 (14-4 on goal). SHU held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks. Jessica Neill had three saves in all 90:00 played in the net for Seton Hill. Kayla Kennedy grabbed 10 saves in the loss.

Seton Hill will take on Gannon University in Erie, Pa. on Wednesday, October 4th. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
