Griffins Cruise To 4-1 Win Over Shippensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. -  The Seton Hill University men's soccer team cruised to a 4-1 victory of Shippensburg University Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

The win moves Seton Hill to 5-4-1 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Shippensburg slips to 3-5-1 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC.

Tom Urquhart got things started for Seton Hill, scoring in the 29th minute off of a penalty kick to give SHU a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Henrik Berg scored in the second straight game, this time in the 57th minute off of an Alex Dyson assist. Brendon Mendelson followed just three minutes later in the 60th when he found an open net after rebounding Berg's shot. Alex Dyson finished the Seton Hill scoring in the 68th minute when he scored off of a rebounded shot that the goalkeeper couldn't corral. Jan Striewe got Shippensburg on the board in the 87th, but SHU would hold on for the 4-1 win.

For the match, Seton Hill outshot Shippensburg, 18-6 (8-2 on goal). The two teams were even in corner kicks with five apiece. Fouls were 17-10 in favor of Shippensburg. Matt Harder picked up the loss for Shippensburg. Harder had four saves and three goals against in 67 minutes played. Austin Iddon had one save in the win.

Seton Hill travels to Erie, Pa. to take on Gannon University on Wednesday, October 4th for PSAC match schedueld to start at 6:00 PM.
