SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Freshman
Henrik Berg scored two goals and the Seton Hill University men's soccer team defeated Slippery Rock by a score of 2-1 Wednesday afternoon at James Egli Field on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
The Griffins register their first PSAC win of the 2017 campaign and even their record at 4-4-1 on the year (1-2-0 PSAC). Slippery Rock falls to 1-4-3 on the year (0-1-2 PSAC).
Berg scored his first goal of the match just under five minutes into play when
Tom Urquhart's cross into the box met Berg's foot and found the lower right of the net. It was Henrik's fifth goal of the season. It would take nearly 55 more minute of action before the match saw another goal, this time it was Slippery Rock's turn as Tyler McCarthy scored his first goal of the season to tie the game, 1-1. In the 64th, however, Berg scored his second goal of the game and sixth of the season to give Seton Hill the eventual 2-1 victory.
For the match, Slippery Rock outshot the Griffins by a margin of 13-11. However, Seton Hill held the advantage in shots-on-goal, 6-5. SHU had eight corner kicks compared to just one for Rock. Slippery Rock and Seton Hill goalkeepers, Jonathan Sharp and
Austin Iddon, had four saves apiece. The 10 team fouls for Seton Hill ties a season low with the win on September 19th against Urbana.Â
