SHU, Wheeling Jesuit Play to 0-0 Tie

Neither team was able to find the back of the net over 110 minutes of action as Seton Hill and Wheeling Jesuit played to a 0-0 tie in the season opener for both teams.  The Griffins out shot the Cardinals by a 19-13 margin but could not beat the Cardinal keeper.

Seton Hill dominated the first 45 minutes of the contest as they held an 11-4 advantage in shots in the first half.  Cardinal keeper Tyler Shotwell recorded 5 saves in the half.  The Griffins nearly scored less than two minutes into the contest off a header from Liam Kettle but Shotwell made a save.  SHU had a fleury of shots at the end of the half as George Demetriades had his shot stopped and back to back shots from Tom Urquhart were blocked in the final thirty seconds.

Alex Dyson had back to back shots stopped by Shotwell just over two minutes into the second half.  Henrik Berg broke thru in the 57th minute, going one on one with the keeper, but Shotwell was up to the challenge making the save.  The Griffins held a 5-3 advantage in the second half in shots.

Wheeling held the advantage in shots in the two overtime periods, outshooting the Griffins by a 6-3 margin, including 2-0 in the second overtime period.  Griffin keeper Austin Iddon made an incredible save midway thru the first overtime period to keep the game scoreless.  In the fifth minute of the first overtime, Shotwell stoned Louis Mason and then a minute later stopped Dyson and Scott Fox's shot went wide on the follow.

Iddon finished with 6 saves in net.  Shotwell added 11.  Dyson led the Griffins with 4 shots while Berg added 3.

SHU returns to action on Saturday when they head to Roberts Wesleyan for a non conference contest.
