Seton Hill closed out their regular season with a pair of games against Slippery Rock on Senior Day. The Rock scored in four of the seven innings for a 7-1 victory in game one. The Griffins responded with an 8-7 win in game two. SHU is now 32-18 overall and 16-12 in PSAC West action.
The Rock took advantage of the Griffins not turning a taylor made double play by hitting a home run the next batter to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Slippery Rock added two more runs in the third inning to push their lead to 4-0. The Griffins left 4 runners on base and had 3 runners caught out on the bases.
Slippery Rock added two more runs in the fourth to push their lead to 6-0.
MP Buckley got the Griffins on the scoreboard with a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning.
Lewis led the Griffins with 2 hits in game one.
The Griffins answered a Rock run with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning. Lewis led off with a double and
Tom McCarthy walked to put two runners on.
MP Buckley then homered but passed McCarthy at first base so the Griffins only scored two runs instead of three.
The Rock tied the score with a run in the second inning. SHU took a 5-2 lead in the second.
Ryan Wardropper led off with a homer to right center.
Jarrett Peters doubled. Lewis walked and both scored when
Tyler Sullivan doubled.
SRU got one run back in the top of the third but the Griffins answered with an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning. Slippery Rock scored three times in the top of the fourth, all after two outs to tie the score at six.
Slippery Rock took a 7-6 lead in the fifth but McCarthy tripled in Lewis to tie the score at seven in the bottom of the inning.
The Griffins took an 8-7 lead in the sixth.
Ryan Grieco led off with a walk and moved to second on a bunt from
Adam Ferita. Wardropper the drove him in with a single.
Kenny Wells earned the win in relief. Buckley, Wardropper and Peters each had two hits.
Seton Hill will be the fourth seed out of the west and meet PSAC East champion West Chester in the first round of the PSAC Tourney on Wednesday at 6:30 PM in Johnstown, PA.
