Bloomsburg Defeats Griffins 9-8 in OT

Seton Hill battled back from behind the entire afternoon against Bloomsburg and took an 8-7 lead late but the Huskies got the equalizer late in regulation and scored with 48 seconds left in the first overtime period for a 9-8 win.  SHU falls to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in PSAC play while the Huskies improve to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in PSAC action.

Bloomsburg scored the first two goals of the contest and led 2-0 nearly ten minutes into the contest.  The Griffins took advantage of a Bloomsburg card when Keagan Pontious scored from Charlotte Cunningham to cut the lead in half.  Bloomsburg answered right back 30 seconds later to push the lead back to two at 3-1.  Pontious scored her second, this one from Katelyn Cressman and Cunningham's first goal of the game tied the score at three with 13:52 to play in the half.  After the Huskies took a 4-3 lead, Cunningham tied the score at four with 6:13 to play in the first half.  Bloomsburg scored the final goal of the half to take a 5-4 lead into the halftime break. 

Cunningham picked up the hat trick with the first goal of the second half to tie the score at five.  The Huskies scored the next two goals to take a 7-5 lead with 19:29 to play in the half.  Pontious scored from Cunningham to cut the lead to 7-6 with just under 15 minutes to play in the half.  Mackenzie Kilduff tied the score at seven with 10 minutes to play.  SHU took their first lead of the game at 8-7 when Christine Palmeri scored with 6:53 to play in the contest.  The Griffins also had a 3 on 0 against the goalie but they were not able to take advantage and extend the lead.  Bloomsburg got the equalizer after a Griffin turnover on a clear led to the game tying goal with 1:36 to play in the second half.  SHU won the draw control and got a good look from Pontious but her shot went just high.

The Huskies won the opening draw of overtime and controlled possession until they scored the game winner with 48 seconds left in the first overtime period.

Keagan Pontious and Charlotte Cunningham each scored three times for the Griffins.  Cunningham added 2 assists.

SHU returns to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg at 2 PM.
