Griffins Sweep Clarion

Seton Hill closed out its four game set with Clarion by hosting the Golden Eagles in the final two games with the Eagles as the home team due to poor field conditions.  SHU scored in just four innings but scored at least four runs in each inning for a 19-3 game one win.  SHU completed the four game sweep with n 8-0 win in game two.  SHU is now 30-15 overall and 15-9 in PSAC West play.
 
The Griffins jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Craig Lewis and Tom McCarthy had back to back doubles to open the scoring.  Mark Colella followed with a homer to straight away center field.  Sam Vilk also added an RBI and the fifth run scored on a balk. 
 
Clarion scored twice in their half of the first inning but the Griffins responded with four runs in the second inning to take a 9-2 lead.  Lewis, Colella, Vilk and MP Buckley each knocked in runs in the inning.  SHU continued to add on in the fifth inning with six runs on just two hits.  Colella had the big hit with a bases clearing double to knock in three runs.
 
SHU closed out the scoring in the seventh with four runs.  Ryan Grieco drove in two runs in the inning. 
 
Tyler Morder earned the win with five strong innings.  Colella and Buckley each had three hits.  Colella drove in six and Buckley drove in four.  Lewis, McCarthy, Grieco and Vilk each added two hits.
 
SHU didn't not waste any time scoring in game two.  Lewis singled, stole second and scored on an error as SHU took a 1-0 lead one batter into the game.  The Griffins added another run in the fourth inning. 
 
The Griffins added two more runs in the fifth.  Lewis singled after one out and scored on a double by Tyler Sullivan.  Sullivan then scored on a sacrifice fly by Colella.  McCarthy singled in a run and stole a bag and scored on an error to give SHU a 6-0 lead after five innings. 
 
Don McWreath threw a complete game four hitter for the win.  Lewis led the offense with three hits. 
 
SHU will head to Shippensburg for a PSAC crossover matchup on Tuesday.
