Seton Hill closed out its four game set with IUP on Saturday with a home doubleheader against the Crimson Hawks. IUP held SHU to just four hits in a 3-2 game one loss. SHU earned the split with a 5-4 win in game two. SHU is now 26-15 overall and 11-9 in PSAC West play.
IUP finally broke the scoreless tie with a clutch 0-2, two out single to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. The Griffins took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning.
Craig Lewis singled and stole second and scored on a double to the gap from
Sam Vilk. After
Tom McCarthy was hit by a pitch,
Ryan Grieco singled thru the box to give SHU a 2-1 lead. The Griffins then had runners on first and third with one out but could not add on.
IUP retook the lead with a two run homer in the top of the sixth inning.
Four Griffins had a single hit in the game.
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game two.
Craig Lewis reached on an error to start the game and scored on a Vilk single. IUP scored on a wild pitch to tie the score at one in the top of the third.
The Griffins retook the lead in the bottom of the inning.
Kailen Grimm was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. He scored on a double from Lewis. Lewis scored on a wild pitch and Grieco knocked in Colella with a single to make it 4-1. IUP scored twice in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3. The Crimson Hawks tied the score at four in the fifth. SHU retook the lead in the bottom of the inning with a single run.
Bryce Spak earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief.
SHU will head to Shippensburg for a single nine inning contest on Tuesday.
