SHU Swept at Home by Mercyhurst

Seton Hill wrapped up its four game set with #13 Mercyhurst with a home doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.  The Lakers brought out the bats and SHU left theirs home in game one as they were one hit in a 9-0 loss.  The Lakers completed the sweep with an 11-7 win in game two.  SHU falls to 15-10 overall and 3-5 in PSAC West action.
 
The Lakers got on the board first in the top of the first inning with a one out double and a two out RBI single thru the left side of the infield.  Mercyhurst added another run in the top of the third inning to increase their lead to 2-0. 
 
Mercyhurst took advantage of two hit batters and scored five times in the fourth inning to push their lead to 7-0.  The Lakers added two more runs in the fifth to increase their lead to 9-0. 
 
SHU was held hitless until the seventh inning when Mark Colella led off with a single. 
 
Mercyhurst wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in game two as they took a 3-0 lead in the first on three hits.  SHU rallied to tie the game at three in the bottom of the first inning.  After an out, Tyler Sullivan drew a walk.  He stole second and scored on a single thru the middle from Colella.  Sam Vilk followed with a homer to right field to tie the score at three.
 
The Lakers scored five unearned runs in the fourth inning on just three hits to take an 8-3 lead.  They added another unearned run in the fifth to push their lead to 9-3.  Mercyhurst hit a two run homer in the sixth to extend the lead to 11-3. 
 
The Griffins got three runs in the sixth inning.  Evan Myers led off the inning with a double.  Ryan Wardropper followed with a single to put runners on first and third.  Jarrett Peters knocked in Myers with a single.  Wardropper scored on a RBI groundout from Adam Ferita and Peters scored on a wild pitch. 
 
SHU is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host West Liberty for a single 9 inning contest.
