Women's Lacrosse Sinks Shippensburg, 14-12

Box Score SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Meghan Hollar had 15 saves and the Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team used an strong second half performance to defeated Shippensburg University, 14-12, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Seton Hill improves to 8-6 overall and 6-4 in the PSAC. Shippensburg slips to 6-7 overall and 2-7 in PSAC play.

The Raiders got on the board first, but Seton Hill responded with unassisted goals by Christine Palmeri (28:17) and Tristen Hanke (26:44). After Shippensburg tied the game at 2-2, Charlotte Cunningham (24:42) regained the lead for the Griffins. Shippnesburg would tie the game at 3-3, but goals by Palmeri (19:35) and Katelyn Cressman (16:02) put SHU back on top. From there the two would trade goals until Shippnesburg scored three unanswered to end first half with the score tied, 8-8.

The Griffins started off the second half by rattling off five straight goals - two by Keagan Pontious (27:12) and one by Cressman (23:52), Cunningham (23:12), and Palmeri (18:31) - to give Seton Hill a 13-9 lead. Cunningham had two assists during the run. The Raiders would respond with two goals of their own, but Palmeri's goal with 11:00 remaining halted the Shippensburg momentum. Seton Hill would hold on for the 14-12 win. 

Christine Palmeri scored a game-high six goals, while Charlotte Cunningham had three of her own and four assists. Keagan Pontious and Katelyn Cressman each added a pair of goals, and Tristen Hanke had a goal to round out the SHU scoring. 

For the game, Shippensburg outshot Seton Hill, 33-25 (27-20 on-goal). Shippensburg won the turnover battle, 22-15. The Griffins were 22-of-26 on clear attempts, while Shippensburg was 17-for-19. The teams were tied in draw controls, 14-14. Meghan Hollar grabbed 15 saves in the win. Bridgette Morrissey had five save for Shippensburg.

The Griffins will be back in action on April 18th when they travel to Allendale, MI to take on Grand Valley State University in a 2:00 PM showdown.
