Cressman Carries Griffins to PSAC Road Win

Sophomore Katelyn Cressman scored a career high six goals to lead the Griffins to a 14-10 road win at Gannon on Wednesday afternoon.  The Griffins improve to 7-6 overall and 5-4 in PSAC action on the season.

The six goals are the most scored by a Griffin this season and tied for the third most by a PSAC athlete this season.  It is the most scored by a Griffins since Emily Fagan scored seven against Bloomsburg last April 2nd.

The game started off slowly with just Gannon scoring a goal in the game's first ten minutes.  Tristen Hanke gave SHU a 2-1 lead with two goals in just over two minutes.  The Knights responded with two goals to take a 3-2 lead with 12:32 left in the first half.  Hanke scored her third of the game to tie the score at three with just over ten minutes left in the half.

That goal started a five goal run by the Griffins as they took a 7-3 lead late in the first half.  Cressman scored twice during the run and Ashley Ingram and Keagan Pontious added goals for the Griffins.  Gannon scored the last goal of the first half and the first goal of the second half to trim the Griffins lead to 7-5.

Seton Hill then used a four goal run to separate themselves from the Knights.  Cressman scored the first two goals of the run while Mackenzie Kilduff and Nicole Nath ended the run as SHU took an 11-5 lead with 20:12 to play in the half.  Gannon answered with two goals to trim the lead to 11-7 before Cressman scored her final two goals of the game to extend the SHU lead to 13-7 with 6:08 left in the game.  Ingram scored her second goal of the game with 4:30 to play as SHU built a 14-8 lead.

Cressman led the Griffins with 6 goals.  Hanke finished the contest with 3 goals and 1 assist.  Ingram added 2 goals and an assist while Kilduff finished with a goal and an assist.  Meghan Hollar recorded 14 saves to earn the win.

SHU continues PSAC play on Saturday as they travel to Shippensburg.
