SHU Drops Second Straight PSAC Contest

Seton Hill continued their road trip with another PSAC contest at Slippery Rock on a very windy Wednesday afternoon.  The Rock scored on a free position shot with 25 seconds left in the game for an 8-7 victory.  SHU drops to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in PSAC action while the Rock improves to 1-0 on the season.

The Rock opened their season in style, scoring two goals in the first 2:38 of the game to take an early 2-0 lead.  After a ten minute break between goals, Tristen Hanke got the Griffins on the board.  That goal began a four goal run for the Griffins as they took a 4-2 lead with 14:40 left in the first half.  Keagan Pontious, Nicole Nath and Hanke scored goals for the Griffins during the run.  Hanke scored her third of the game to answer a Rock goal and extend the SHU lead to 5-3 with 8:15 to play in the half.  The Rock scored the final goal of the half to trim the Griffins lead to 5-4 at the break.

Nath's second goal of the game pushed the Griffins lead to two at 6-4 just 1:22 into the second half.  SRU scored twice to tie the score at six with just over 20 minutes left in the contest.  Ashley Ingram gave SHU a 7-6 lead with 18:45 to go in the contest.  Just over a minute later the Rock tied the game at seven.  Neither team was able to score over the next 16 minutes.  SHU got a yellow card with just over a minute to play, giving the Rock a man up opportunity.  The Rock used that to their advantage and scored on a free position shot with 25 seconds left in the game for the game winning goal.

The Griffins outshot the Rock 26-21 in the contest.  Both teams committed 26 turnovers in the contest that was played in a 30-45 mile per hour wind.

Tristen Hanke led the offense with 3 goals and 1 assist.  Nicole Nath added two goals. Keagan Pontious added 5 ground balls and 5 draw controls.  Eden Olson and Alex Petrarca each caused three turnovers.

SHU will now head to Florida for three games over spring break.  The first is on Saturday at St Leo.
